Grounds (Jason M. Thornberry)

Today, I YouTubed “How to Tie a Noose.” My mother hates me. She said so. I barely make over minimum wage—even after getting a master’s degree. I live next door to an apocalyptically loud construction site operating thirteen hours a day, six days a week. My one-bedroom apartment is beneath a barking dog. I can’t afford to live anywhere else.
