Flâneur (Josh Sherman)

They say taking walks

is good for one’s

mental health

Yeah, the tonic of sun

and air

is salubrious,

they say

So every day

I force myself out,

cut through the forest,

take the path

along the ravine

I recommend evenings

for walks

when the sky

is sherbet,

and the water

trickles delicately,

like something

sacred

(or expensive)

By the time I reach

the clearing

where the ravine feeds

unceremoniously

into a sewer

grate

it’s twilight,

and I’m already

feeling renewed

From here,

it’s only a few hundred metres

to the liquor store
