Binge (G. Lynn Brown)

Sober thinking

Interrupted by you

It’s not the rum that tempts me

But the thought of you that gets me.

Last night I binged on the memory of you

The wagon tossed me

I’m drunk on remembering you

Your eyes so blue

Oh, how they smoldered

That certain smile

Oh, how I melted

When you’d put your arm around my shoulders

Not a glass in sight

No bottle, either

Last night, I binged on the memory of you

Sober thinking

Interrupted by what should have been

By what could have been

But never could have been

Last night I binged on the memory of you

The tender kiss we never tasted

I’m drunk on remembering you

Your touches too few

Oh, how I yearned

Your southern drawl

The stolen glances

Oh, how they burned

Not a glass in sight

No bottle, either

Last night I binged on the memory of you

Sober thinking

Tossed off the wagon

Last night I binged on the memory of you
