With filched candy bars and vodka nips tucked in your waistband, you stumble out of the gas station, her loving arm wrapped around your shoulder, her mouth whispering “these are the best days of our lives,” but later, as the buzz wanes and chocolate covers your lips like an abstract painting, the rush gone, you hope she’s wrong.
