Yes I’m still here in Peoria fucking
Arizona. Yes I’m still
tired of all the happy streets and feeling
so unhappy within them; Lake Pleasant, Happy
Valley. Deer Valley even sounds endearing, dear, and
don’t you just fucking hate that? I never wanted to be
held like that. I want to be held
in the firefly exhibit in Downtown Phoenix in the center
of the room on the solid, dirty floor; 1,000 colorful lights
or maybe even more, and mirrors enough to collapse you
into being, to shake you up a little, to convince you that yes
you are still here, you who are obliterated by the dancing
swarm of fireflies–you, who knows her way out, right
next to the Big Big Mac, hanging on the wall.
–This poem references the installations You Who are Getting Obliterated in the Dancing Swarm of Fireflies by Yayoi Kusama and Big Big Mac by Tom Friedman, as displayed at The Phoenix Art Museum.
